The NAGF has moved!

Welcome to the North American Generator Forum

The North American Generator Forum (NAGF) was founded in 2009 as a vehicle for generator owners and/or operators to address issues related to registration, compliance, standards development and other NERC-related topics. In 2013, the North American Generator Forum, Inc. became a non-profit, dues-based corporation.

We provide entities who are generator owners and operators in North America a means to collaborate and communicate with FERC, NERC, the Regional Entities, the Canadian Provinces and other organizations with missions similar to ours, with the ultimate goal of improving the reliability of the bulk power system.

RECENT ACTIVITY

Said: : "I would encourage designing control logic into the AVR and speed/governor systems to make compliance with MOD-026 and MOD-027 easier over the life of the assets. Step response testing can be used to verify the status of these systems."
Said: : "Thanks to everyone for the great input!"
Said: : "Do you know if you the plants will have medium or low impact BES Cyber Systems under CIP v5? I would involve CIP knowledgeable personnel in the design phase to make this determination, and have them work to segregate the BES Cyber Systems...
Said: : "An option might be to eliminate the percentages altogether and designate "4 or more" for severe. Your comment may also apply to R1 R2 since the VSLs appear to be nearly identical. Thanks"
Said: : "In addition: We encourage complete documentation of all commissioning testing for dc control circuits for Protection Systems. Also, in addition to the relay test records, also document the initial testing done on communication systems, ...
Said: : "Also make sure your protective relays meet all the setting criteria in the current and upcoming standards like PRC-024 025. thx"
Said: : "Documentation! Make sure you don't get short-changed as the plant(s) is completed, startup is done, and then the plant personnel are left to clean up and organize. It would be easier to do during construction. For example, get the PRC-...
Said: : "NIPSCO provided a similar comment regarding the Control Center personnel and we believe it wasn't fully addressed in the latest round. We plan to continue to vote Negative until it is clarified in the standard. We've had to battle this in...
Said: : "Leland, They accept it even though the unit is responsive for over frequency? See I read this that you can utilize this statement if the unit is not responsive to BOTH over and under frequency excursions, and given the valve at 100% may p...
Said: : "Hi Harry, I agree with Bill's comment. In WECC, we have been doing model validation for many years and WECC has accepted the non-responsive certification that Bill references. I am not sure how the other regions view it..."
Said: : "Based on my read of Attachment 1 Row 7, while a unit with its valve 100% open would not be responsive to under frequency excursion, it would still be responsive to an over frequency excursion. So I do not believe the unit would satisfy th...
Said: : "Ron,   For a CIP v3 Critical implementation at a plant that has 5 simple cycle GTs and not a lot of BOP equipment, including replacement of legacy equipment that could not be repurposed, a ballpark estimate is $650k for the conversion al...
