The NAGF has moved!

Welcome to the North American Generator Forum

The North American Generator Forum (NAGF) was founded in 2009 as a vehicle for generator owners and/or operators to address issues related to registration, compliance, standards development and other NERC-related topics. In 2013, the North American Generator Forum, Inc. became a non-profit, dues-based corporation.

We provide entities who are generator owners and operators in North America a means to collaborate and communicate with FERC, NERC, the Regional Entities, the Canadian Provinces and other organizations with missions similar to ours, with the ultimate goal of improving the reliability of the bulk power system.

Said: : "Ref. question 1 the system voltage sometimes goes out-of-bounds during periods of heavy load or (more commonly) light load, despite the reactive response of our plants, since we can't swing the entire grid. This is not a problem for NERC...
Said: : "Our controller is the voltage controller for the Facility. It is what maintains the POI voltage while the tap changer on the GSU maintains voltage on the low side bus and equipment. A couple of things that are gotchas to the Solar Facili...
Said: : "Alex, 2. The site controllers at our solar sites control to a high-side GSU voltage setpoint by calculating a reactive power demand from each available inverter. This mode of operation is called AVR Control. Benjamin Rice (Dominion - Powe...

Said: : "Duke had an experience similar to Tri-State. During an audit, we received feedback on our forms regarding inconsistent format and missing information. We're currently in the process of implementing a standardized form across the Generatio...
Said: : "Tri-State has 26 units at nine separate plants. During the last audit conducted by WECC in 2015, we noticed that the auditors picked on our transmission group a bit for inconsistent test data. Generation's testing data was also a hodgep...
Said: : "I agree with Bradley and believe they are looking at real generation loss and not capacity. Final ballot for NERC Project 2015-08 Emergency Operations EOP-004-4 is open until COB 1/6 (today) if anyone would like to provide comment on this...
Said: : "We allow relay test contractors to use their own forms when performing work, but they must also fill-out our form which repeats the basic data (date, tester's name and company, device type, ID no., OEM, model, pass/fail outcome, and speci...
Said: : "Agree with the above - Testing Deliverables is the aim of our efforts as well. Initially we tried using NETA MTS and ATS, though found there is a lot of room for interpretation in these documents."
Said: : "Because of the various testing softwares used by our multitude of contractors we chose a different approach. We've developed a list of Testing Delivetables the contractor needs to provide. E.g., Test date, Station, Unit, Device name, ANS...
Said: : "Similar for our company - we also try to unify the reports resulting from facilities commissioning efforts."
Said: : "This topic is part of my company's 2017 action plan. We will be working to create a standardized template for RFPs for PRC-005 as well as require the results in a certain format, all in the name of preventing anything from falling through...
