Welcome to the North American Generator Forum

The North American Generator Forum (NAGF) was founded in 2009 as a vehicle for generator owners and/or operators to address issues related to registration, compliance, standards development and other NERC-related topics. In 2013, the North American Generator Forum, Inc. became a non-profit, dues-based corporation.

We provide entities who are generator owners and operators in North America a means to collaborate and communicate with FERC, NERC, the Regional Entities, the Canadian Provinces and other organizations with missions similar to ours, with the ultimate goal of improving the reliability of the bulk power system.

Said: : "It would be an extraordinary case to come anywhere near the maximum fine considering it compounds daily. As far as what to go by it depends on your context. The ROP is NERC's set of procedures and doesn't restrict FERC. The maximum FERC...
Said: : "So the ROP says one thing and FERC can impose higher fines if desired? I saw the FERC order, I just figured the ROP are the enforceable since NERC and FERC approved them. Section 2.15 or 2.16 has not been changed. As far as I know, FERC h...
Said: : "See FERC order 826. FERC is obligated by law to increase their maximum fine amount for inflation. I believe this has been required since 1990 and they have just made up for the years of overlooking that statute."
Said: : "Thank you Brad, Mark, and JC. Your feedback and guidance was very helpful."
Said: : "Someone stated the fine amounts increased. I know of no changes to Section 2.15 in the ROP. I think the person deleted the post, but here is what the current Section states: In the United States, the maximum Penalty amount that NERC or a ...

Said: : "OMG, I love that Dilbert! Thanks for sharing."
Said: : "We are vertically integrated, so we just use letters of attestation from the LBA. This has always been sufficient. Also - through trial and error, we have determined that getting a single letter from a fleet perspective is more effective ...
Said: : "Rhonda, I agree with Brad's response. We usually point to the Interchange Agreements, one-line diagrams showing metering, and/or point assignment sheets for RTUs transmitting metered generation to the BAs. You could always supplement t...
Said: : "GridSME has created a tool to help with this NERC alert: Kaspersky NERC Alert: Free Verification Tool https://gridsme.com/news/ I haven't tried it yet, but will post my experiences afterwards. Mike"
Said: : "Hi Rhonda, If your single line diagrams show the meters normally placed at generation facilities going to the BA, that could work. Normally, you would have Meters indicated on the single line diagram and those meters are normally monitore...
